Ramona Elliott
Principal Deputy Director / General Counsel, United States Trustee ProgramRamona D. Elliott is the Principal Deputy Director and General Counsel of the Department of Justice’s Executive Office for United States Trustees in Washington, D.C. Since 2011, Ms. Elliott has provided executive leadership and central policy and management direction in overseeing the operations of the United States Trustee Program, a national, field-based agency with approximately 1,000 attorneys, financial analysts, and other employees in headquarters and 90 field offices. The Program undertakes enforcement, regulatory, and administrative responsibilities to promote the efficiency and to protect the integrity of the bankruptcy system, including ensuring the proper administration and oversight of approximately 1 million pending consumer and business cases. Ms. Elliott is also the Program’s chief legal officer responsible for developing and implementing its national legal policies, positions, enforcement strategies, and key legal initiatives and activities before bankruptcy courts and on appeal in consumer and chapter 11 reorganization cases. In addition to almost 30 years’ public sector experience in the insolvency field, Ms. Elliott started her legal career in private practice, concentrating on bankruptcy reorganizations and out of court workouts.
