Helena Kontkanen - Bankruptcy Ombudsman
Helena Kontkanen is the Bankruptcy Ombudsman in Finland. The Bankruptcy Ombudsman is an independent authority responsible for monitoring and supervising the administration of bankruptcy estates and restructuring proceedings. Its operations cover corporate insolvencies. The Office of Bankruptcy Ombudsman was founded in 1995, and it became a member of the IAIR among the first organizations. Helena has joined the IAIR Executive Committee in 2016.
Helena worked earlier in the Federation of Finnish Financial Services as a Head of Banking and Finance Regulation, including insolvency matters. During her carrier she has also drafted insolvency regulation as a legal advisor in the Law Drafting Department, Ministry of Justice. One of Helena’s international connections is a membership in International Exchange of Experience on Insolvency Law (IEEI).
