The Honourable Justice Paul Heath - Judge of the High Court of New Zealand
The Honourable Justice Paul Heath was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of New Zealand in April 2002. Since 2003 he has been a High Court Judge assigned to sit as a member of divisional panels of the Court of Appeal. Justice Heath also served as a Judge of the Court of Appeal of Vanuatu in 2011.
Justice Heath was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1998. Between 1997 and 2002, Justice Heath was (initially) a consultant and (later) a Commissioner to the Law Commission. During that time he was responsible for the preparation of a Law Commission’s report which was directed at improving certain aspects of the Arbitration Act 1996.
The Judge is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK) and a Fellow of Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand Inc. Before his appointment to the Bench he conducted a number of arbitrations, as arbitral tribunal.
